Notes from the Church Warden

Hello, Spring has well and truly sprung now, it’s lovely to see the blossom and flowers that make up Gods colourful tapestry for this time of year.

At the AGM Simon stepped down as churchwarden, and Nasko took his place, so it’s the start of a new partnership for us.  I ask you to give your support to Nasko, as he learns the ropes.  I want to thank Simon for his friendship, and wise council during our 5 years together.  Simon and I agreed that he would step down to allow another person to get used to the job while there was still an experienced man in place.  It will give Nasko a chance to learn, so that when I step down next year, after 6 years, we will not be in a position of having two new people in role.

During Easter, we had a busy time, Diana lead daily meditations during Holy Week, and on Maundy Thursday we celebrated a Christian Seder Meal.  Thanks to Nasko and Richard, who cooked a brilliant meal for over 50 people, and all the people who provided the lovely desserts (they were scrumptious).  Not to forget all the helpers who did vegetables, laid tables, washed up, cleared up, demonstrated the elements of the Seder, and to Diana for the idea, and the help with planning.  All in all it was a great success.

Meditation on the Cross on Good Friday lead by Diana.  Easter Sunday saw 22 hardy souls at the Sunrise Service at 5.30am.  Sadly this year I was not one of them.  Everyone had fun at the 10am service, with Easter Egg Hunt.

I can’t move onto other things until I say a thank you to the ladies, who have arranged the Easter Flowers.  I think they are spectacular.  Thanks ladies.

On the 7th May Sue and Simon will be with us, and we will get an update on their Mission Direct work.  Of course May sees Christian Aid week, and I am sure that Rosemary would value any volunteers to collect.  There will be a linked service, but at the moment I have no other information.  We will let you know the details as soon as we have them.  On the 21st May, there is a Communion Service at St. James’ School, all are welcome to attend.

Just a note for your diary.  Bishop Graham will come to us for a Confirmation service on 14th June at 6.30pm.
